N-BUS Narrow Band Ultrasonic Spectroscopy

N-BUS Narrow Band Ultrasonic Spectroscopy Logo

N-BUS

N-BUS (Narrow Band Ultrasonic Spectroscopy) is designed for composite testing. It uses measurement of the changes in electrical impedance of the transducer due to loading variations in the material under test for detection of defects. The application field for Narrow Band Ultrasonic SpectroscopyN-BUS Narrow Band Ultrasonic Spectroscopy tested on honeycomb (or N-BUS) will increase rapidly with the growing application of layered structure tubes in modern aircraft, for example, GLARE, FRP, CFRP and HONEYCOMB for aircraft such as the Boeing &E7, Airbus A-380, Joint Strike Fighter F-35 etc.

Instrument uses tuned transducer for particular material geometry for obtaining best sensitivity to small defects. The instrument uses a specially designed ultrasound probe driven by continuous frequency. The impedance is displayed on classical eddy current display. When coupled with FreeScan, N-BUS can be used to provide C-Scan images of the scanned area.
