MsSR 3030R - MsS Technology

The MsS (Magneto-strictive Sensors) Technology is based on a device that
generates and detects guided waves electromagnetically in ferromagnetic
materials. With MsS technology, a pulse of relatively low frequency
guided waves is launched along a structure from a fixed test location.
When the propagating guided-wave pulse encounters welds or defects, such
as corrosion wall loss and cracks, some of the waves are reflected back
to the original test location where they can be detected by the same
sensor and analyzed for structural conditions.
Advantages of MsS
Technology
-
Lightweight
and Low cost. Can be permanently installed for
accurate condition monitoring, even under insulation
-
Easy to
change Frequency (2kHz to 250kHz)
-
Does not
need pressure to affix sensor to pipe during testing
-
A
Pressurized transducer version is available when no
time available for adhesive curing
-
Can also be
applied to plates, and with EMAT mode to Rods and
Cables
-
Almost
entirely the same mode always generated
Applications:

- Buried pipelines
- Inspection of suspenders
on highway suspension bridges
- Anchor Rods
- Plates
- Heat
exchanger tubes
-
etc.
