ProbeScopeTM
(Acoustography)
The ProbeScopeTM,
model PS200, makes ultrasonic transducer field mapping simple, fast and
economical compared with conventional point-by-point scanning methods.
It employs a unique, super high resolution, 2D Acousto-Optic (AO)
detector that allows real time visualization of ultrasonic fields.

Unique Benefits:
• SIMPLE—circumvents the need
for complicated system set-up and programming of point by point scanning
routines for field mapping.

• FAST—provides instant, real
time visualization of transducer field cross-sections, allowing quick
field mapping at any point away from the radiating surface; conventional
systems require point-by-point scanning that can take hours to generate
transducer field map.
•
SUPER HIGH RESOLUTION—provides exceptional lateral resolution since the
AO detector uses a continuous layer of a proprietary LC material to
sense ultrasound, where the LC molecules are 20 angstroms in size;
current hydrophone element limited to 0.2mm in size limiting their
lateral resolution.
• ECONOMICAL—significant labor
cost savings since the transducer field data can be obtained in minutes
versus hours with point-by-point scanning methods.

Basic Principles, How the ProbeScopeTM Works:
It is based on a unique ultrasonic imaging process called
“Acoustography” where a proprietary liquid crystal based Acousto-Optic
(AO) detector is employed to directly convert ultrasound into a visual
image in near real time. This visual image is then transferred through
the CCD camera to the computer for further image processing, storage or
printing.
